Introduction

Kwena Human Capital is recruiting an experienced Electrical & Equipment QC Inspector to join the Redstone PV + BESS Project, comprising a 19 MWp Solar PV plant and 30 MWh / 4-hour BESS.

This is an opportunity to be part of a utility-scale renewable energy project covering design, construction, commissioning and close-out. We are looking for professionals with strong relevant project experience who are comfortable working in a full-time, site-based environment and operating within a multidisciplinary project team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Candidate's Scope of Work

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing the duties associated with their appointed discipline and supporting the successful delivery of the Redstone PV + BESS project.

Depending on the position, responsibilities may include:

Project Execution

Supporting the project team in delivering works according to the approved programme, specifications and project requirements.
Coordinating activities with other disciplines, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
Monitoring progress and identifying potential delays or constraints.
Ensuring activities are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Technical / Engineering

Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
Supporting design close-out and resolution of technical queries/RFIs where applicable.
Coordinating technical interfaces between PV, electrical, BESS, SCADA/PTMC and other disciplines.
Providing technical support during construction, testing and commissioning.

Construction

Supervising and coordinating site activities within the relevant discipline.
Managing work fronts and subcontractor activities.
Ensuring materials and equipment are available when required.
Monitoring productivity, progress and workmanship.

Quality

Ensuring works comply with approved drawings, specifications, ITPs and quality requirements.
Supporting inspections, punch-list activities and close-out.
Maintaining accurate project records and as-built documentation.

HSE

Complying with project HSE requirements and South African legislation.
Participating in risk assessments, toolbox talks and site inspections.
Exercising stop-work authority where applicable.
Promoting a strong safety culture throughout the project.

Desired Experience & Qualification

National Diploma / N6 / NQF Level 6 qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Quality Management or a related discipline.
3–5 years' experience in electrical quality control and inspection.
Previous experience as an Electrical QC Inspector / Electrical Quality Inspector / QA/QC Inspector on large-scale construction, EPC, renewable energy or industrial projects.
Practical experience with ITPs, inspection requests, NCRs, corrective actions and quality documentation.
Strong understanding of electrical drawings, specifications and installation quality requirements.
Experience inspecting electrical installations, equipment, cabling, terminations, switchgear and associated systems.
Experience working with electrical contractors and subcontractors.
Experience with punch-list inspections and quality close-out.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality principles would be advantageous.
Utility-scale Solar PV experience will be highly advantageous.
BESS experience would be advantageous, particularly exposure to battery systems, PCS/inverters and associated electrical equipment.
Experience with electrical testing and commissioning would be advantageous.
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality deviations.
Good written and verbal English communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Must be willing to work full-time on site.
